Our Journey

Starting With a Simple Idea

ashbriley.org Lda started in 2019 because we noticed something. Adults over 40 weren't finding regular places to gather around games. Sure, you could find younger crowds at gaming cafés, but there wasn't anything built specifically for people in their 40s, 50s, and 60s who wanted serious game nights and genuine community.

We began hosting monthly meetups in Lisbon. Twenty people showed up to that first event. They brought strategy games, dominoes, backgammon sets, and puzzles. By the second month, we'd doubled in size. People weren't just there for the games—they were there for the company, the laughs, and the chance to exercise their minds with people who got it.

Today, we've expanded across Portugal with regular tournaments, evening leagues, and marathon puzzle events. We're not a corporate gaming company. We're just passionate about connecting people through tabletop games and making sure no one in our age group feels like there's nowhere to go for a proper game night.

Types of Events We Run

From casual meetups to structured tournaments, we've got different ways to play depending on what appeals to you.

Strategy Game Nights

Weekly gatherings for games like Catan, Ticket to Ride, and 7 Wonders. Competitive without being cutthroat. Most nights run 2-3 hours with snacks and good conversation.

Domino Tournaments

Structured competitions running quarterly in major cities. Players are grouped by skill level so everyone gets matched opponents. We track standings and offer small prizes for winners.

Backgammon Leagues

Seasonal leagues where players compete in rounds over 8-12 weeks. You'll improve your game while building friendships with regulars who show up every time.

Jigsaw Puzzle Marathons

Full-day or weekend events where groups tackle large puzzles together. It's relaxed, social, and you don't need to be "good" at puzzles—just willing to help find pieces.

Sign Up & Show Up

Register online or call us if you prefer. We'll confirm your spot and send details about parking, what to bring, and the skill level. Arrive 10-15 minutes early to settle in.

Play & Connect

We handle matchmaking so you're playing with people at your skill level. Most events include light snacks and drinks. Stick around after—that's when the real conversations happen.
